The CAFHOMEC Consortium is pleased to announce that the headquarters of the Grand Challenges Strengthening Modelling – Cameroon (CAFHOMEC) project is now operational, marking an important milestone in the implementation of the project. As its first institutional activity, from 21 to 22 July 2026, the new headquarters hosted Master’s thesis defenses in Mathematics at the University of Dschang.

This activity also marked another significant achievement for CAFHOMEC, as a total of seven Master’s students successfully defended their theses, all with distinction. Among the graduates of this third cohort, four are women, highlighting CAFHOMEC’s continued commitment to strengthening advanced training and promoting women’s participation in mathematical modelling.

The research undertaken by this cohort covered six topics in mathematical modelling and one topic in AI-based modelling, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach promoted by the project. The successful organization of these Master’s thesis defenses at the CAFHOMEC headquarters demonstrates the project’s growing capacity to provide an enabling environment for graduate training, research, and scientific collaboration.
