I am sincerely grateful to the CAFHOMEC team, and the Gates Foundation for their support and guidance. With their help, I feel prepared to contribute to the global fight against infectious diseases, particularly in Africa and Cameroon.I hope that the CAFHOMEC program will continue to open doors, inspire, support, and train passionate young people. I believe it can instill in their hearts the conviction that, together, through science and solidarity, we can build a more equitable and healthier future for all.

My time at CAFHOMEC profoundly impacted my journey. Thanks to this project, I learned how to work as part of a team, to collaborate effectively, and to grow through meaningful interaction. Beyond the knowledge I acquired, it was above all the commitment, availability, and professionalism of the supervisory team that inspired me the most. This project helped me navigate a crucial stage in my development by providing the guidance, motivation, and clarity I needed to move forward. I sincerely hope that it continues to inspire, guide, and transform the lives of many young people.

The CAFHOMEC project revealed to me the power of mathematics in solving health problems, showed me that women can also engage in modeling, and provided me with the foundations in epidemiology that allowed me to join the Master's program at AIMS Cameroon. I hope it continues to inspire other young people.

Participating in the Master’s scholarship project on HPV and cervical cancer has been a truly transformative experience. This program not only strengthened my skills in mathematical modeling but also sparked a genuine passion for research addressing public health challenges in Cameroon. I hope this initiative will continue to inspire and support other young researchers committed to the fight against cancer and infectious diseases.

Fascinated by the application of mathematics to solving everyday problems, CAFHOMEC has transformed this passion into epidemiological expertise, equipping me with the necessary tools to become the epidemiologist I aspire to be; capable of modeling infectious diseases and informing public health decisions.

My time at CAFHOMEC (2024–2025), as part of my Master’s program, was undoubtedly one of the best academic decisions I have ever made. Under the co-supervision of incredible professors alongside dedicated collaborators, I carried out my Master’s research and wrote my very first manuscript derived from my thesis in just a few months all within a strict yet peaceful environment. This experience has greatly enriched me both academically and professionally, and I sincerely hope to be selected to continue my doctoral studies there. Many thanks to the entire CAFHOMEC team ✨.

Hello everyone, my name is DONNA Bill Nicodeme, a PhD student at the École Polytechnique de Tunis and a former student of the CAFHOMEC project. I did my Master's degree there and it was a truly incredible experience. There were five of us, and we were the very first cohort of the project. Naturally, things were a little difficult at first, but after just a few months we got used to the atmosphere and the workload, and we were able to finish our Master's with flying colours. Being part of a project like this allows you to focus better on the essentials and deliver good results as well as going beyond our limits. I strongly encourage you to take an interest in applied mathematics, especially in the life sciences.

I am a former Master’s student in Mathematics at the University of Dschang, and I had the immense privilege of benefiting from the CAFHOMEC project scholarship. This program provided me with a suitable working environment, high-quality scientific guidance, and valuable financial support. This initiative was a true opportunity for my introduction to research, and I sincerely hope it will continue and expand in order to positively impact future generations of young researchers ..

In 2023, after my first year of graduate studies, I joined the CAFHOMEC Project a 10-month scholarship led by Prof. Berge Tsanou where I collaborated with peers and experts to apply mathematical tools to the fight against infectious diseases. This experience sharpened my analytical skills, deepened my belief in the power of mathematics to solve real-world problems, and inspired me to support evidence-based decision-making for public health in Africa. I'm grateful to the CAFHOMEC team and the Gates Foundation, and I hope more young Africans will have similar opportunities to become true problem solvers.
